Another week

Whew, another whirlwind week has gone by. Becka started basketball practice last Tuesday, so that adds another element to our crazy schedule. Her games start on Saturday too.

Jake had what I think was food poisoning yesterday. Poor baby was up all Friday night throwing up and kept on all day yesterday. Today he is fine, except that his tummy still hurts a bit (I think it is his sore muscles from dry heaving so much).

Steve was gone most of the week again. I am beginning to feel resentful again. I wish I could just quit being such a freaking baby and deal with it. It makes me sad though when the kids get upset because he has a meeting to go to, or Rachel wanders around the house calling for him.

Melissa came over last night and we were supposed to work on some banners so she can advertise her Advocare business. Of course, we didn't get any of that done. We ate, watched "The Sound of Music" with the kids and then she fell asleep around 9 pm. She ended up staying the night, which was fun. We were lazy today. I dropped Becka off at church and stayed home with Jake and Rachie. I think Jake probably could have gone, but he was still weak and I wanted to be sure he would be rested enough to go to school tomorrow.

Right now I feel like uck. I am really tired still and have a headache. I hope that I can take a bath or get some alone time tonight. Jake wants to play Sorry with the family, I hope Rach cooperates with that. Usually she messes up our games. Poor kid just wants to be included!

Becka had a good week. She has been really trying hard lately to have a better attitude and be helpful. I was so proud of one of the things she did. At the kids' school, they get "caught being good" tickets from teachers when they do things that are kind or helpful. They put their name on it and stick it in a box in the office, and on Fridays, the principal draws a few names and the kids get prizes. Becka got 4 last week, and she erased her name from 2 of them and put Jake's name on so he would have a chance to win. I was shocked! She hasn't been that thoughtful toward anyone, especially Jake, in a long time!

We had the kids' pictures taken on Friday. Rachel was a brat! She cried and wouldn't cooperate. They managed to get a couple good poses with all three of the kids, and there are a few that are cute of just Jake and Becka. I will post my favorite at the end of this blog. Steve is needing my help. I will bbl! H

Snow!

It is snowing! How fun! I wish it would stick.

Took Jake to his pediatrician this morning and asked about getting tubes again. The doc wasn't exactly for it, but I think I will do it anyway. My poor boy is getting a really bad ear infection at least every other month and it almost always perforates his eardrum. I hate having him hurt so bad, plus it affects his hearing.

On my last post, when I was complaining about my rotten week, I forgot to mention that our outside fridge/freezer went out and we lost probably about $200 worth of food. I was so upset. That was my extra for when we don't have enough money, plus I had several pounds of ground beef in there. I swear, life is getting more and more complicated! Going down to only one fridge when you are used to having two is interesting! Ours is jam packed full now. Makes it seem like we have more than we really do.

I am trying to be better about cooking at home and using leftovers. We haven't been doing so great lately. Last night I made the homemade potato soup and it was so nice! Jake had 2 bowls of it, Rachie ate three helpings! I also made the jello pretzel salad, so we had a nummy dessert. Haven't decided what I am making for tonight. Might be something with some chicken or maybe just mac and cheese. I am feeling lazy!

Steve is going on another campout with the scouts this weekend. He is always grumping at me when I want to go somewhere and scrapbook or something, but then he goes off with the scouts once a month. I know it is different, he goes as a scout leader, but I still feel like he is just being difficult. I really need to get out of the house sometimes. After being in here all day long, I have got to get out once in a while. He feels the opposite because he is gone at work so much. I wish he could understand how I feel sometimes.

Since the kids have Monday off of school, we are going to go over to my mom's house and while they play, Mom and I are gonna work on Rachie's bedding for her new bed. I am excited! It will be so darn cute! Saturday, Steve and I were planning on finishing up replacing the light switches and then cleaning out the garage and possibly taking the broken fridge over to the dump. Now that he will be gone, who knows when that will get done??? I hate the condition of the house. I can never get ahead because I am always following them around, cleaning up what they are messing up this time. I would love to have time to do something fun for me, like work on my scrapbooks or practice making my hair bows. But if I do that, I am neglecting something else that needs done. I am so close to just boxing all our stuff up and taking it to Goodwill and starting over. Wouldn't that be nice? Someday I hope to have some time for just me, without feeling guilty!

Is it safe to come out now?

Oh, what a crummy week I had last week!

Monday night, Rachie was up all night screaming. I got her some antibiotics for her ear. She was miserable though. Tuesday night she was up a lot, and at 4:30am, Jake came in complaingin about his ear hurting. So, Wednesday morning, we went to the ER for him. His was a really bad ear infection and his eardrum was perforated. I have a follow up appt. for him on Thursday and am going to insist on getting tubes for him again. Wednesday night, Rachie was up only 3 times, but her cold got worse and she started in with a bad cough. Thursday, she seemed better, but I was exhausted!! We also had a tornado touch down only 2 miles from our house! Friday, I started getting sick and felt like crud. Saturday evening, the cramps started and my period came on Sunday. Ugh! I am still dealing with the horrible cramping.

I was supposed to go to the temple to night, but my period is so heavy that there is no way I can sit through a two hour session without having a major problem. So, Steve is gonna come home and get me and we will just go for the hour long chapel session. I feel bad, but I can just see my white temple dress stained with blood. Not good!

Mondays

Well, today is the kids' first day back at school after winter break. Phew! It is nice. I had to take Rach to the doc this morning because for about 2 months, she has had a wart on the bottom of her big toe and has recently started saying it hurts. So, Jake was a bit late for school. He wasn't a happy camper about that. :)

I went to Melissa's house for an Advocare mixer on Saturday night. I wasn't expecting to care at all, I really only went because we were planning on scrapping afterwards. The people who did the presentation were really good. Better than Jason and Cat or Brian and Stacy were when they were trying to get me into Advocare. I can see why people would want to do it. I just don't have the extra money to buy the stuff. I would love to try some of it out and see if it actually works for me. I was surprised that I wasn't completely bored the whole time.

When we scrapped, I did get one of my calendars almost finished. I only have to reprint the May pic (I gleeked on it by accident and when I wiped it, the color came off, ugh) and then fill in the dates. I am hoping to finish the other 3 calendars by this weekend so I can get them to my grandparents, in laws and mom asap. I digiscrapped the pages and had Costco print them up in an 8x8 size (the calendars are 8.5x11). They look really good. Was a bit spendy, since I was printing so many at one time, but if I need printing done again, I will use them.

Tonight is Family Home Evening. I am going to do a lesson about making better choices in our lives, and mainly focus on good eating and exercise habits. I am planning on using the Word of Wisdom as my guide. Hopefully I can find some interesting activities and a way to make it fun for the kids, especially Jakey. I want to make some family goals and plans together too. Have to pull out my old Primary stuff. Good thing I never throw anythign away, right?

Rachie is supposed to be napping, but I can hear her singing. I hope she sleeps. She hasn't been doing so well in the napping/sleeping dept. lately. I am telling you, that girl is my most challenging child so far. At least as a toddler. She is into EVERYTHING. When I am cleaning up one mess, she is off making another one. This morning, I left her in the tub for about 2 minutes while I helped Jakey with a computer game. When I returned, she was out of the tub and the bathroom floor had about 1/2 inch of water covering it. The bath mat was soaked and she was bouncing on it, laughing at the splashes it made. I used about 7 towels mopping it up! I guess it is ok though, because it saved me from having to mop the floor, right? I knew that my other two were really good toddlers, neither one of them ever really did anything super naughty (well, with the exception of Jake and the furniture marker at my mom's house). I was lucky! Rachie is a busybody!

OK, enough procrastinating. I am off to wash some clothes!

Sick baby

I think I knew a couple days ago when Rachie was being extra snuggly that she must be getting sick. Well, the nose is running, she is grouchy, up all night and is sleeping a lot more during the day. She got upset with Jake earlier and was crying so hard that she threw up all over my bedroom floor (and Becka's feet/legs). Poor kiddo!

So, instead of getting things cleaned up today like I had planned, I have been holding her almost constantly. I don't mind giving her the extra love and attention, it is nice.

Tonight I am headed over to Melissa's house for an Advocare mixer and then afterwards, we are gonna scrap! I am excited about that part. I need to get my stuff organized and together. I am planning on putting the 4 calendars together that I was supposed to give as Christmas gifts, and then, if I have time and energy, work some more on Jake's book. I already have pics printed, just need to get all the paper/accesories I will need together. Fun!!

Well, my punkin is in bed for her nap. Time for me to get moving on the laundry and other stuff while I have the time. Hope you all are having a wonderful day!

Good...so far!

So far today has been good. I haven't accomplished a lot, but the kids are being fairly happy and kind to each other. Marissa spent the night last night, so I was worried about the girls picking on Jake and ignoring him, but they are doing pretty well. I am so gonna make Becka have a nap or some quiet time this afternoon, after Marissa goes home. Hopefully that will help her remain in a good mood.

Tonight we are going over to Mom's to make buck-eyes. I didn't have time to make them before Christmas, so we are all gonna work on them together. I make them for Steve every year, since he loves them. He is gonna help us tonight though, so he will see how much work they really are.

Funny thing...I colored my hair this morning (don't tell Cami I used a box color!). The color I used was called "Pecan" and described as a warm medium brown. I figured it wouldn't do much to my regular hair color, just cover the gray. Ha ha ha! It added a lot of red. LOL! I don't mind it, but my mom is gonna tell me it looks too red. Hee hee! I wish I could afford to have my hair done for real. I love it when I get highlights. :)

Grumping

I am such a whiney brat, but hey, that's why I have this blog, right?

I am so sick and tired of dh not helping me out around here. I understand that he works and that is his main job, but would it really kill him to take the garbage out or put his shoes somewhere that I won't trip over them and hurt myself when I walk through the entryway? I mean, come on! For example...today is garbage day. Last night I asked him to take the garbage can and recycling to the curb on his way out the door. I usually do it on Wednesday nights, but didn't feel well last night. This morning, I wake up and see that he hasn't done it. I mean, how hard is it to move the stupid garbage can from the side of the house to the end of the driveway? Most of the time, if he does do that, he never takes the recycling down also. I am the one who has to take the trash from the house out to the big can, and I do the recycling. If it was up to him, everything would go in the trash (we don't have room for recycling to be in the garbage). Ugh! I can't take care of the inside of the house, and the yard and everything else all on my own. I feel like I do it all...house, yard, taking the kids to their activities, lessons, friends' houses, all the household shopping, not to mention my church responsibilities. He comes home from work, isn't hungry for the dinner I have made because he got something at a fast food place on the way home, and then sits on the couch and watches TV or plays on the computer all freaking night. Then, he complains that I haven't gotten the laundry finished or that the house is messy, or I forgot to pay a bill or something. FREAK! Get up off your butt and do it yourself!!!! He is always making jokes about how I have clutter around or I pile papers and lose things...guess who else does that same stuff? HIM! He wonders why I want more kids when I "can't even handle the ones we have." Well, maybe it is because I am so overwhelmed with everything else, that the kids issues sometimes push me over the edge. Ugh! If I mention this to him, he asks if I am taking my medicine, or says that my main job is the house and kids, his is to go to work, or is completely condescending and pats me on the head and laughs it off. I swear, sometimes, if it weren't for the kids, I wouldn't have anything worthwhile. I mean, ten years of marriage have gotten me fat and more depressed than ever. Woo hoo.
