Yesterday was a bad day. I was still hanging on to my headache, Becka was grouchy at me before school, Rachel wanted to be on top of me constantly. I decided to shampoo the family room carpet. Got all the furniture moved, everything vacuumed nicely, sprayed the pre-treat stuff on the stains (Rach had gotten pink marker on the floor when it rubbed off of her coloring book), hauled the steam cleaner in from the garage. I started with the cleanest areas first and about halfway through, the belt broke. So basically I was spraying water onto the carpet and sucking it back up. No bristles or brushing. UGH! At that point I realized I had forgotten to send something to school with Jake that was due that day, so I took Rachie and went to drop it off. After that, I decided to be bad and I took her to Applebee's for lunch. The service was so slow and I was not impressed! Rachie really wanted some ice cream, so I got her a $1.00 sundae at the McDonald's drive through on our way home. She spilled that all over her dress in the van. We got home and I put her down for her nap, and fell asleep on the couch myself. The big kids got home and were grumping at one another. Becka turned on the TV and we realized that something was wrong with the picture, so I got grumped at for that also. Steve came home and immediately went to work, trying to fix the TV. I felt bad for him. He has been so stressed about work lately and now he has a broken TV to try and fix. I finally got dinner on the table around 7ish (meatloaf, mashed taters and gravy, green beans), only to hear Becka complain about how she hates meat. Gah! At 7:45 I left for my meeting and finally had a little bit of peace and quiet.
But, today was much better. Rachie and I skipped storytime and just hung out together all morning. We wore our jammies until after naptime! We read books and cleaned the kitchen and made muffins (see my 365 blog about those!) and ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch. It was nice to have nothing to do and nowhere to be. I need some more days like today!

Back on track, again
Phew! Life has been a crazy one for about a month now. I am looking forward to getting back to the "normal" way of things. I don't have any "extra" stuff this week until Friday and I plan on keeping it that way.
I hope everyone had a good Easter. Mine was crazy, hectic and then painful. :) Spent all morning doing stuff with the kids and getting ready for church. Saturday night, I made 30 boo boo bunnies and filled eggs to go in their tummies for the YW, and Sunday morning I made about a million bunny sugar cookies for the YW, and had planned on taking the rest over to the Ards after church. I made frosting for the YW ones, but knew I had a container of frosting in the cupboard and I figured I would use that to frost the others for Grandma's house when I got home from church. I started getting a migraine in YW at church. The light spots and blurry vision were bad enough that I considered asking Steve to drive the kids and I home. As I was fumbling through the cupboards trying to find the tub of frosting, the headache part started. I looked and looked, Steve looked, we couldn't find that darn tub of frosting anywhere and I was in no shape to make a batch. So, we went empty-handed (well, we did bring jello beans, but that wasn't my original plan, so I feel bad that I didn't help Grandma with Easter dinner in any way at all).
By the time we got to Oregon City, I was in bad shape. I couldn't even get Rachel out of the van. I tried, but Steve had to come back out after he took the other stuff and kids in to get her for me. I went upstairs and slept for a while. Steve came up and told me he had made me a plate of food, so I went downstairs and ate. That helped a little bit. It was fun seeing all the kids and brothers/sisters. I like sitting around and chatting with them all. I have the cutest nieces and nephews in the world!
Today I am still feeling like I am not all here. LOL, I know, you might be thinking that's normal for me, but it is just me feeling weird and light headed and funny. I really need to do some cleaning and errands, and such. I just want to lie here and sleep. Rachie is being good for me. She is playing nicely and reading books. She took a bath for about 45 minutes too.
I am hoping to feel better soon so I can shampoo the family room carpet, and then Jake has soccer practice this afternoon. Tonight for FHE we are gonna finish decorating our eggs, since we didn't finish up yesterday. Looks like it will be sunny and nice today, so hopefully we will get some time to do an egg hunt also. It was rainy and yucky yesterday.
Oh! The best news is that Jason and Cat are getting Lucia sealed to them this weekend. So they will be in town for that and Ava's birthday. I am looking forward to seeing them. I am sure I will be posting pictures!!

Back to reality
We just got home from our Spring Break beach trip. It was fun and I am a little bit sad that now I have to be back in real life again. So, to relive the fun (and probably bore you all), I will tell ya what we did!
Wednesday we left here at about noon. Stopped downtown at Portland Pro Photo on the way so that Steve could rent the 2x teleconverter lens that he has been wanting to buy. That was not fun at all! There was nowhere to park, so I dropped him off and circled the block for 40 minutes with the kids whining at me with "I'm hungry!" "Where is Dad?" "Why can't we just go to the frickin' beach?" (That last one was courtesy of Becka). We met Melissa and Josh at McDonalds for lunch and then we were on our way! Rachie had woken up that morning with a cough, so we knew she wasn't feeling well at all, poor thing. She did great in the car though, slept most of the way. We stopped in Tillamook for groceries and cough meds. Funniest thing happened in Fred Meyer...we saw a family from church! Small world, huh?
Got to the beach house around 4:30ish. The kids were really excited to be there finally. They played ping pong and foosball and set up the train set. We had Hawaiian Haystacks for dinner that night...yum!
By Thursday morning, Rachel had a fever. Poor baby was miserable and slept most of the day away. We hung around the house, Melissa and I took the older kids to play on the beach for a while that afternoon. It was rainy, windy and sometimes hailing, so staying in the house wasn't a horrible thing! Becka's throat started to hurt that afternoon. Ugh! Two grouchy sick girls is a pain! Steve gave Rachie a blessing before bed that night, Becka refused to have one. That night I got pretty much no sleep at all. Rach was up coughing a lot and even threw up a couple of times because of her coughing fits.
Friday morning, I was afraid to see what shape the girls were in. Thankfully, they were feeling better. Rachie didn't have a fever anymore and was feeling a million times better! We spent the day geo-caching and visiting Cannon Beach and Seaside. We splurged and ate lunch at Mo's in Cannon Beach, then went to Seaside for some window shopping. Steve took the bigger kids to the Funland arcade there. They loved it! I hate arcades, and was so ready to leave that loud, obnoxious dingy place! :) We hit the outlet mall there also. Melissa found some fun things, Becka and I just browsed in Claire's for a while, looking at all the fun stuff. I tried to convince her to get her ears pierced, but she wouldn't do it. Her throat was hurting worse by now, so she was a grouch. Melissa took Josh to his mom's house that evening, I went with her so that I could get some throat spray for Becka and also grabbed some sherbet for her, hoping it would help her throat.
Saturday morning we got up, watched conference, did a little tidying up. We eventually left and did a bit more geo-caching, then went to the Tillamook Cheese Factory. I saw someone I knew there! :) One of my good friends from school's little sister was there with her hubby and baby. It was fun seeing her! Melissa left to get Josh and go home around 1:30, and we went back to the beach house. Steve's parents and Bryce were there, so we had a fun afternoon playing and visiting. We went to the beach again, it was sunny, but cold and windy again. We didn't get to stay very long, I was sad that we only got about an hour and a half total beach time this trip. Hopefully next time, the weather will be better so we can play and enjoy ourselves. Grandma took us to the little arcade in town, so my kids were feeling pretty spoiled, two arcades in two days! Rachel completely melted down as we were finishing up there. Steve was going to go take some sunset pictures, and I had planned on going with him, but had to stay home with Rachel since she was a mess! I got her into her jammies and sat on the rocking chair with her. She was asleep in only a few minutes! She was a tired girl.
Sunday we played and watched conference and went for a walk, and played some more. While we were getting the van packed and ready to go, the kids decided to play in some gross muddy swampy water and get their shoes and jeans all muddy. Worst part was that Rach had on light pink pants and her new pink and beige tennis shoes. Ugh! What a mess!
We left at about 5:00ish. About 15 miles out of Tillamook (and any civilization for a while), Steve realized that our gas light was on. That stressed me out, especially since we had a long way to go through the mountains and home. We ended up ok, got gas in Gales Creek. I felt bad doing it on a Sunday, but it had to be done. Next time I will remember to check the gas gauge on Saturday. I hadn't been driving much, so I wasn't paying attention. Funniest part was that the gas station attendant who pumped our gas asked us if we had been running on fumes, lol! He was surprised at how low we were when he was waiting for the pump to stop. We got home around 7:30, had a quick dinner and went to bed.
I am working on laundry and unpacking today. I have a few errands to run also. Welcome back to regular life! We had fun and feel so thankful and lucky that Grandma and Grandpa let us use their beach house. If we had had to pay for a hotel, we wouldn't have been able to go.

Stupid mice
So, when I was pregnant with Rachie (4 years ago), we had mice get into our kitchen because the garbage can was under the sink. It took a few weeks to get rid of them all, and Steve patched up all the places he thought they may have come in from. The other day I saw that the bag of birdseed I have had under our kitchen sink for at least 2 years had been nibbled on. I didn't think much of it, because I haven't seen any signs of mice, I cleaned it up and figured it must have been a one time thing. Not so lucky. Just now I was downstairs watching TV and I could hear something rustling around in the kitchen. It sounds like it is behind the fridge, which means that either there is a hole somewhere back there or it came out from under the sink. I told Steve and he says he will set traps tomorrow. I am freaking out because that means I have to sit here all day knowing I have a mouse in my kitchen. GROSS!!! I didn't think that mice liked birdseed. I never would have kept it under there if I had known. I am tempted to find some sort of food and put it OUTSIDE so maybe the dumb mouse will stay out there instead of coming in my house. All I can say is that Steve better find and fill any place that looks like a hole a mouse might be able to get in through or I am calling a professional to come and take care of it.

Catching up
Phew! Crazy life has been at it again!
Nothing new and exciting to share with ya'll. Just been busy taking kids to sports practices, games, piano, church stuff and such. Becka had her last fencing class on Monday and now wants to do the intermediate one. It is clear over at Firstenburg, so I haven't decided what the plan is yet.
This weekend I get to go to the beach with Andrea, Dana, Erin, Afton and mom (Steve's mom). I wasn't so sure at first, but now I am really excited about it! All we need is Kerry and the fun would be complete! Next time you come out here Kerry, we are whisking you away!!
Oh, Rachie and Kylie have started their tumbling class. They like it, but Dana and I aren't super impressed with the way it is done. There are 12 kids in there and only one teacher. A lot of the stuff the teacher tells them to do isn't exactly age appropriate (telling them to stand still and quiet in a line and wait while she works with each kid one on one, expecting them to understand how to run an obstacle type course, stuff like that). They really need another teacher in there helping keep the kids who are waiting busy. But, the girls have fun and enjoy being silly together, so that is nice.
Other than that, my news is that tomorrow is my birthday! My mom, Grammie, Steve, the kids and I are having dinner at my mom's house (cafe rio, yum!) tomorrow evening. Melissa has the day off work, so after tumbling, she and I are gonna do some stuff together. Sounds like it will be fun!
