Another day, another disaster
Oh yes! Another Sunday has come. I swear, some Sunday mornings I just want to lay in bed. That was my plan for today until I got a call that they needed me to help out in the nursery again. I felt like crap...my icky sickies have turned into a sinus infection, but I got up and dressed and went. It wasn't too bad at first actually. There were only about 12 kids there today and none of them were crying for the whole time. Just one or two of them off and on. Last week was a nightmare. 16 kids and most of them were screaming/bawling the whole time. Rachel acts worse with me in there, but I was handling it. Well, one little girl (Gabi) was throwing toys and hit another little girl (Nicole) on the head. So, Nicole starts crying. As I am trying to comfort her, Gabi keeps throwing toys at her. So, I pick Nicole up and set her in my lap. Almost instantly, a very warm, very wet sensation is soaking through my skirt. Yep. I got peed on. Ugh! I guess the mom had told the other nursery lady before I came in that Nicole was potty trained, but the other lady got busy and forgot. It wasn't a huge deal, except that now I had a big wet spot on my skirt and smelled like pee. LOL! Good thing I worked in day care for so long, I am used to it. After that, Rachel's behavior got worse and worse until I finally took her to Steve. I was so embarrassed that she was acting that way. Screaming, not listening, putting her feet up on the table at snack time, throwing fits. I was so relieved to get home and into my jammies! Whoever said Sunday is a day of rest was definitely not a nursery teacher! Hee hee!

Post Christmas Blah
Well, it is here. All the excitement and stress leading up to Christmas is over and I am left feeling a bit blah. I am glad to have the down time, but it just seems like everything is a mess (house, car, etc), I have a million things to return and/or exchange, all the decorations and the tree to take down and box up. Ugh!
We had a nice Christmas. The kids got way too many things, as usual. The day after Christmas, we got to go to the beach house that Steve's folks just bought and stay for two nights. It was pretty fun. I haven't been feeling well though, so I spent most of my time reading, or sleeping. If I didn't know better, I would think I was pregnant. I have been feeling so sick to my stomach constantly and my headaches are getting more and more frequent. Steve and Jake went geo-cahcing and found some fun things. Jake also collected shells. The weather was horrible. 80 mph winds and really heavy rains. It was miserable to be outside. Steve got his new lens for the camera (a 50mm 1.8 f stop), so, we went out in teh storm to take some pics. We hiked out to a lighthouse and it turned out to be a joke. The crappiest lighthouse we had ever seen. Poor Rachie was getting knocked over by the wind. She didn't like it much! We spent some time at the Tillamook cheese factory and that was fun. Rach kept running aorund saying, "Cheese! Cows! Moo!" over and over again. Silly kid! We ate lunch there (it was spendy and gross!) and then had ice cream. Yum! We came home last night and it was a bit scary going through the mountain passes, since there was about 8 inches of snow. Luckily, the snow plows had done a good job, and it was warm enough the the rain wasn't turning into ice.
This afternoon, I went with Christe and Melissa for our annual Christmas lunch and shopping trip. We decided that instead of buying xmas gifts for each other, we would go to lunch and shopping, each pay for our own food, and just have fun hanging out. It was fun! I got three new shirts at Lane Bryant for only 20 bucks total. I also got some nummies at Bath & Body Works and a new oil warmer at The Body Shop. We ate lunch at The Cheesecake Factory! I had a new thing...stuffed chicken tortillas or something like that. It was so good! I saved half for Steve and he liked it too.
I can hear the kids fighting again. I better go get them moving. They are supposed to be getting their jammies on and teeth brushed. I can't wait for them to be in bed so I can go to bed and read my book.
Have a wonderful evening!

OPK
OPK= Other People's Kids
I am such a brat. Lately when my kids have been playing with friends, those friends REALLY annoy me! It isn't all of their friends, just a certain few. They don't listen, mess up my house, and are kind of rude to me. I hope my kids are better at other people's houses than these kiddos are at ours!

Only my son!
So, today, Jake and Rach were in the tub and Jake starts yelling that she pooped. As I was cleaning it out, he stood, watching me with disgust all over his face. He told me,"I am glad that I am gonna be a dad who goes to work when I grow up so that if I have a baby who poops in the tub, I won't have to be the one to clean it up."
I laughed so hard! I love the wisdom that comes from the mouths of babes!

Not fair
Yes, I am going to whine for a bit. Why is it that I have tried my whole life to do the "right things" and follow what I have been taught, but have nothing to show for it? I look at other people (who shall remain nameless), who make stupid selfish choices, only think of themselves, don't take care of the things and people they should and yet they are out living the life! Must be nice. I guess I am jealous. I don't understand why I can't have some of the things they do. I am doing what I am supposed to do...taking care of my family, going to church, etc etc and I can barely make ends meet, but they are out there having wonderful, exciting experiences, making and spending tons of money, neglecting their children so that they can get ahead, and it is working out wonderfully for them. Sometimes I want to just scream.

Relief?
Well, the Enrichment dinner is over. HOORAH! I thought it went well, and most of the ladies enjoyed it. We did have one of the women complain quite rudely about the food. I am so asking her to be in charge of the dinner for the next time.
Now I just have to get caught up around the house. It is bad. I have tons of laundry and dishes, not to mention needing to do some deep cleaning. I still don't have my xmas decorations out. I have never been this late on that before. If it wasn't for the kids, I don't think I would do it at all. I need to mail my AB baby's gift out asap, but can't find a good time to go to the post office.
All I want to do is lie in bed and read something good. I think I need a break, but don't know how or when I would get one. Being a sahm is easier than being a working mom, I am sure, but I am feeling overwhelmed and swamped and like I can never catch up. The kids always need something or to be taken somewhere, Steve needs help with this or that...sometimes I just want to tell them to take care of it themselves for once and let me have 20 minutes of peace.

Snow!
It is snowing! Hooray! It isn't sticking though. The rain is supposed to start later today. It was a nice way to wake up on December 1st though. The kids got all bundled up and went outside to play in it this morning. LOL!
We are supposed to get a pretty big storm tomorrow and monday with winds up to about 100+ mph. They say it will be bigger than the Columbus Day Storm back in 1963. That is one that people still talk about. We are prepared though. Have lots of candles and matches, food we can prepare without electricity just in case. I should check the firewood situation. I think we gave most of the big logs away, maybe have to go to Fred Meyer and buy a bundle of it.
I am still stuck here making these darn angels. Why do I get myself into these crazy situations? I still have to make the slideshow. Everything has to be done by Tuesday. I hope that if the power goes out this weekend, it doesn't do it while I am working on the computer doing the slideshow. That would be horrible!
