At last!
We finally have our garden planted! Hooray! I don't know why, but I have been in a hurry to get it done this year. We have never had it ready before the end of May. But yesterday I finished planting the rest of the seeds and starts. Our weather has been so wacky lately. I planted the broccoli and onions last week right before we had freezing temps and snow! Luckily, they seem to have survived alright. This year we have broccoli, onions, chives, green beans, peas, squash, tomatoes, cilantro, jalapenos and cucumbers. I am excited!
So, it has been a while since I last posted. I will give ya a quick update. Becka is in spring soccer, and Jake is playing tball. Steve is helping coach his tball team, so the boys are having lots of fun playing catch and being together. Yesterday Becka scored a goal at her game! Woo hoo! Jake loves hitting and running, and at yesterday's game, he made an AWESOME catch when he was playing 1st base.
Steve got some lights for the photography stuff and is so excited about that. He has been playing around with them whenever he has a free minute.
Nothing else too new around here. We are just truckin' along, trying to do the right things and have fun! Have a great day all!

Fun day
It snowed for about 4 hours this morning! Big, fat flakes and there were tons of them! It stuck to the grass, dirt, roofs and cars, but never the roads or sidewalk. It sure was pretty while it lasted. So strange to have snow in March though.
Today after I drop Jake off at school, Melissa and I are headed back to IKEA so I can buy the shelf that goes with my new bench for the entryway. I will take pics when it is all together and post them here. I am so excited! I love getting birthday money! LOL, sounds selfish, huh?
Tomorrow we had NOTHING planned! That hasn't happened in forever! No games, church or family stuff. So, of course, we had to plan something! Steve's brother and sister and their families are coming, along with Angie's family for games and dinner. It will be chaotic with that many kids, but I think it will be fun too!
Jake is invited to his first "official" sleepover on Monday night. He has gone to Rylee's house to spend the night, but Becka was there with him having a sleepover with Jordyn and Tayler. Plus, that family is just like family to us anyway, so I don't count him going to Rylee's as an "official" one. :) He is pretty darn excited about it! He will get to go to Tanner's house and I bet they will have TONS of fun!
I am looking forward to the beach house next week. I gotta start taking my vitamins and airborne so I don't get sick this time, lol. Both times we have gone, I have gotten sick and been pretty miserable!
Good news! I was having such a hard time loading my layouts to digiscrapshack and digiscraptalk, but finally figured out the problem and got them up there. Hooray! I feel so relieved. I kept thinking that Amanda was gonan ask me to not to the CT anymore cuz I couldn't get the dang things up where they needed to be! Now to just get better at the whole scrapping thing...

The news
So, I went to the doctor yesterday. He was very nice and talked with me for quite a while. He ordered another thyroid test and a thyroid ultrsound, is gonna take the mole off my back, gave me a tetanus shot, ordered a sleep study to check for sleep apnea and talked to me about my depression and a bit about the PCOS, we are waiting on bloodwork to decide when/if we go further with that. He told me that I really need to start exercising. So I told him I would try and walk for at least 20 minutes every day. I go back in 3 months to talk about some other stuff.
Funny thing about having to go on a walk every day. When do I schedule it? LOL! I told myself I would go after school with the kids and they could ride their bikes, but in the back of my mind, I knew I probably would put it off, like I always do. Well, my friend Nichole called at 9am and asked if I wanted to go walking. Hee hee! Looks like the Lord is gonna make me keep my promise! We walked about 4 miles, and my shins hurt like heck! Felt pretty good though. Rachie fell asleep in the stroller and Jakey rode his bike.
Yesterday afternoon I totally cleaned out the garage. It was horrible! I meant to take a before and after pic so I could have used it for the cleaning challenge on BoM, but forgot. Actually, to some people it might still look a mess, but it is a million times better! I finally got all the shards of glass on the floor swept up. That was from Steve drilling holes in glass blocks for Melissa and I for xmas projects. I only cut myself once!
I took a load to Goodwill today. Feels awesome to be getting rid of some stuff. Last night at FHE, we had a long talk about people helping and taking care of their own stuff. I feel like all I ever do is clean up and I don't have time to do things I want to do unless I ignore the household things or stay up all night. It isn't fair to me, or to them because I get grouchy. I got halfway throught eh girls' room yesterday. Well, it is really just Becka's crud that I am going through. That child has so much trash in there and never picks it up and puts her stuff away like she is supposed to. After their room is done, I will tackle Jake's. His isn't very bad, just needs to have some re-organization done. Then it will be time for my room. Ugh! I also need to get this office taken care of. It has become the dumping ground, along with the garage. I am so tired of clutter and piles of junk!

Exciting!
Hooray! Jason, Cat, Lucia and Ava are finally home from Colombia. They had a terrible time getting home, dealing with customs and airlines, but they made it! Got to visit them last night and a bit this morning. I missed them. They had originally planned to be there for 2-3 years, but with all the political aand other issues starting, they came back sooner.
Easter sure has snuck up on me this year. I have everything ready to go for the kids' baskets. I need to get a bigger one for Rachie though. Hers is pretty small, and I know it won't hold what I got her. We are doing a late lunch with my family at 2pm on Sunday, and then going to Steve's family around 5:30 for dinner. The holidays are a hard time. Can never quite make everyone happy. Church should be nice. Becka's class has their class presentation for Primary Sharing Time. I was originally planning on leaving church early to go over to my mom's house with the kids, but now I have to stay for Becka's thing. I am sure my mom will be a bit upset, but I don't know what else to do. Can't take Becka out...she has a part in the program.
I have a doctor appt on Monday afternoon with a new doctor. I am kind of looking forward to it. Mom recommended him to me, but when I called, his practice was closed. Well, she went in to see him and asked him to take me, he said yes, and she made me an appt. LOL! So, I kind of got in by cheating. She says he is really thorough, and actually listens to what you have to say. I like my OB, but he is a "wait and see" kind of guy. I want to get this PCOS stuff taken care of, along with about 2-3 other issues I am having. I hope I feel comfortable enough to talk to this new doctor about everything I need to.
Kids are good still. Spring break is the week after next. We were originally hoping to get to go to SLC for conference, but didn't get tickets before they were gone. So, we are gonna spend a few days at the beach house. We are thinking of letting Becka bring Lucia along, so hopefully that will be fun.

Long time, no see
Wow, it has been a while, huh?
Well, let's see. We went to the beach house for the weekend on Feb 22. It was lots of fun, Melissa and my mom came along, and Melissa brought her niece Ashley. We hung around, ate junk, went geo-caching, played on the beach. I ended up getting sick on the last day at the beach and am still dealing with the tail end of it. I have a horrible cough that won't go away!
So, other than being sick, not too much has happened to me. So, on to the family...
Becka made her very first basket in a basketball game on March 1st! She always does very well in practice, but gets nervous and flustered during games. Hooray Becka! Her last game is this Saturday and we will be starting spring soccer in a bit. The 4th grade is reading the book "The Giver" and even though I think it is a good book, I asked her teacher to let her do another assignment. 4th grade is WAY too young to read that book, imo. I will gladly let her read it when she is 13 or 14 if she wants to.
Jake is starting tee ball tomorrow. I am excited for him, but kind of ticked about the costs involved. We paid $85 to register and now we are getting all this info on extra things we have to purchase or donate to. ARGH! Makes me wonder what my 85 bucks was for! He is so excited about it. He and Steve have been out praticing catching every day for the past two weeks. Steve is going to help coach the team, so I think that will be lots of fun for them. He has lost 3 of his 4 front top teeth adn looks so darn adorable! I keep telling him that he is gonna have to start eating baby food if he loses any more!
Rachie, well, she is being her happy self. She cracks me up all the time! The whole potty training thing isn't very exciting to her. She likes to go potty, and asks to go, etc, but has no desire to try and stay dry. She does not want to wear undies. She would rather be in a diaper or naked. I am not gonna push it, I learned my lesson with Becka in that department. Lately she has become obsessed with her Little People play sets and will play with them for quite a while. She loves to play "People" with me. Poor baby has been sick along with me, so we have been having lots of snuggle time.
Steve is keeping busy with church stuff. He and I did get to go to a cool photography lighting seminar on Feb 28. He is so excited about the idea of us starting our own studio. He has bought 2 backdrops, a backdrop stand, and a screen thing to set the white balance on the camera. He really wants to buy the lights, but we can't afford that for quite a while. He also thinks he needs a new camera. Ugh! He has been practicing taking pictures of the kiddos, and they are almost always willing subjects.
Hey, I thought of something new about me. Amanda (my friend from Band of Moms) asked me to be on her CT (creative team) for the digital scrapbooking kits she designs. I was surprised and excited! I haven't made any layouts yet because of being sick, but am excited to get going.
OK, now I have to tell you about our FHE tonight. It was so hilarious! Jake was supposed to do the lesson, but he couldn't think of anything and didn't want to teach us what he learned in Sunday School. So Steve said that he would tell a story from the Book of Mormon if Jake (and the rest of us) would help act it out. He chose the story of Ammon. Jake was Ammon, Steve was both King Lamoni and a shepherd, I was another shepherd, Becka was all of the robbers, and Rachie was a sheep. If you know this story, I think you might be able to see where this is headed. The story starts with Jake walking up to Steve and asking to be a servant to him. Then he goes out to the fields to help the shepherds. Here comes Becka chasing Rachel across the family room (aka: scattering the flocks), Steve and I are trying to "protect" our flocks (well, ok, just one sheep isn't exactly a flock, but we were trying, right?) and Rachel is giggling and trying to get away from us. In comes Jake with his light saber (Ammon had a sword, so we improvised) and started chasing Becka around the couch yelling at her to stop so he can chop off her arms. He "smites" her arms off and then goes back to help the shepherds gather the flocks. Next is King Lamoni (Steve) standing on the fireplace with Becka in front of him. He has her by the arms and is waving them around like crazy and asking Ammon (Jake) why all these arms are all over the place. When he asked Jake how he was able to defend the sheep against all the robbers, Jake showed him his light saber. We had to prompt him to talk about the spirit, etc. Then Jake told King Lamoni that he should get baptized and be a Mormon. LOL! It was so dang funny. I ended up in a coughing fit because I was laughing so hard. I wish I had thought to video it. After we were done, we watched America's Funniest Home Videos and then put the kiddos to bed. It was lots of fun, and I bet Jake and Becka will remember more about that story.
Tomorrow is BOM day at Band of Moms. There are gonna be lots of fun games and things to do, I am looking forward to it.
My birthday is on Wednesday. I am actually excited about it, even though Steve will be gone. He has a team building activity thing after work, they are going paint balling, and then I think he is gonna go to Mutual. I wish he would stay home so we can go to dinner or something. He got me a Bamboo fun tablet that I am excited to use for digiscrapping. I will put a picture of what it is at the end of this post. Last night my mom had a birthday dinner for me at her house. One set of my grandparents came, so it was a nice quiet night with family. I am excited because my mom gave me a huge tray of daffodils that I can plant in the yard. Just have to keep those darn squirrels away from them! They ate all of my tulip bulbs. Melissa and Angie are taking me out for my birthday on Friday night. I can't decide between dinner and a movie or going to IKEA. I haven't ever been there without kids, so I am thinking of doing that! I think Steve is gonna take me out on Saturday night.
Tomorrow night is Enrichment, I am no longer the Enrichment leader, but I am on the committee. The new leader won't be there, so I have kind of taken over her part this time. It is a dinner and short presentation. I think it will be nice.
OK, so I just realized that it is after midnight and I have been writing everythign on here like it is still Monday. Sorry if that confused anyone. Gonna head off to bed now, have a great day all!
